Overview: A antibiotic in the penicillin group of drugs that helps fight bacteria in the body.
It works by reducing hormones that can cause inflammation and pain in the body. It is used to treat conditions such as fever, headache, toothache, back pain, arthritis, menstrual cramps or minor injuries.
Side effects: Can increase risk of heart attack, may cause intestinal bleeding.
Pregnancy: Using ibuprofen during the last 3 months of pregnancy may harm the baby. Assigned by the FDA to pregnancy category C for less than 30 weeks of consumption, category D at greater than or equal to 30 weeks of consumption.
Intake: Take ibuprofen exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Take ibuprofen with food or milk to lessen stomach upset.
Missed dose/Overdose: You may not be on a dose schedule since ibuprofen is used when needed. If on schedule, use missed dose as soon as you remember to, unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose.
Avoid: Drinking alcohol. Be cautious with taking ibuprofen if you are taking aspirin.
