Isobutylparaben is in the family of parabens, and is used for preservatives in food, and for pharmaceutical and personal care products. Isobutylparaben is closely related to butlyparaben, a compound considered by the European Comission as a potential human disrupter of the endocrine system. Although isobutylparaben appears to be more estrogenic (estrogen are potential horomone system disrupters found mostly in breaks cancer tumors) than butylparaben, but it has received a lower hazard score in the cosmetic area because of the limited amount of research of toxicity.
